SailCorp Sydney Harbour tips: Chowder Bay
Next time you’re out on a SailCorp Sydney Harbour charter, why not visit Chowder Bay, one of our favourites.
Chowder Bay is named after the American whaling fleet that made chowder from the plentiful seafood found in the bay. The fleet, based here in the early 1800’s, chose the bay as it was close to the heads and gave them a good chance to be first on the scene when the whales passed by.
Chowder Bay is a great place to relax, enjoy an afternoon on the beach or visit one of the nice eateries on the waterfront. It also has a few historic buildings that can be wandered around.
We particularly like Chowder Bay as it offers good anchoring, is pretty safe in most winds and has enclosed swimming.
